Photo0271

This week, Chef Gino, one of our amazing volunteer chef, brought together a group of 2nd graders to make lettuce wraps and little cakes. Can't have a proper meal without dessert right?

Chef Gino lead a great cooking lesson customized specifically for younger kids. You should try this very simple recipe at home:

Fresh Herb Cream Cheese Lettuce Wraps

Ingredients:

  • whole lettuce leaves- washed and separated individually

  • bean sprouts

  • crushed peanuts

  • herbs (we picked dill, basil, oregano, rosemary)

  • cream cheese

  • carrots- thinly julienne

  • ham

Directions: Chop up herbs and mix into the cream cheese. Spread onto lettuce leaf (iceburg is very easy to use with kids). Toss in the rest of the ingredients of your choice. Wrap up like a burrito and eat.

Mint Tea: Mix in freshly washed mint leaves into hot water and honey. Great for a chilly day!
